More Than Therapy. A Place to Belong.
Guiding Tides is a Cape Cod-based community dedicated to helping children learn, grow, and thrive while ensuring the families who love them feel supported, understood, and connected.
Rooted in years of clinical experience and a deeply personal understanding of the journey families navigate, our approach brings together individualized, evidence-based behavioral support, meaningful relationships, and opportunities for learning through play and everyday experiences.
We believe that meaningful progress begins with connection, that every child deserves to be celebrated for who they are, and that families should never have to navigate their journey alone.
We're here to create something different. A place where children belong, families feel empowered, and community is at the heart of everything we do.
Rooted in Experience, Growing with Purpose.

Honoring where we've been. Embracing where we're going.
From Bright Steps to Guiding Tides
Every meaningful journey begins somewhere.
Mine began long before opening the doors of Bright Steps Behavior Innovations in 2019.
After years of working alongside children and families in the field of applied behavior analysis, I knew I wanted to create something that felt different. A place where children were seen as individuals, where relationships mattered just as much as measurable progress, and where families felt like genuine partners in their child's care.
Bright Steps was built on those beliefs.
Over the years, I've had the privilege of watching children discover new skills, families celebrate milestones they once wondered were possible, and meaningful relationships grow through the smallest everyday moments.
But as my professional journey continued, so did my personal one.
Becoming a mother, and eventually navigating my own son's autism diagnosis, brought an entirely new perspective to work I had dedicated my career to.
I began experiencing firsthand what it means to be the parent searching for answers, coordinating services, advocating for support, and trying to make sense of systems that don't always feel connected.
And I found myself returning to one question:
What if families could find more than therapy?
What if they could find a place where their children were understood, where learning happened naturally through play and connection, and where support extended beyond appointments into the everyday experiences that shape family life?
What if they could find community, too?
That vision became Guiding Tides.
Guiding Tides is the next chapter of Bright Steps Behavior Innovations. It carries forward the foundation I've spent years building while embracing a broader vision of what compassionate, connected care can look like.
The name itself reflects something I've come to understand both professionally and personally: no two journeys look the same. Growth isn't always linear. Some seasons bring calm waters, while others ask us to navigate the crashing waves of unexpected challenges.
And no family should have to navigate those changing tides alone.
I'm incredibly proud of where Bright Steps began, grateful for the children, families, and team members who have shaped its story, and excited to continue building a community where every child has room to grow and every family has a place to belong.
The name is evolving. The heart behind it remains.
And in so many ways, I feel like I'm just getting started.

The People Behind Guiding Tides
Different strengths. Shared purpose. A whole lot of heart.
The heart of Guiding Tides has always been its people.
Every day, a dedicated team of professionals brings compassion, creativity, clinical knowledge, and their own unique personalities into the spaces where children learn and grow.
I believe that meaningful care begins with meaningful relationships, and that extends to the people providing it. When team members feel supported, valued, and empowered to bring their whole selves to their work, something special happens.
Children feel it. Families feel it. And that's the kind of community I'm committed to building.
Lindsay T. Clarke
Founder, Owner & CEO
Some people see the world as it is. Lindsay has always been a little more interested in what it could become.
With more than 15 years of experience in applied behavior analysis, Lindsay has built her career around a belief that children deserve more than programs and progress reports. They deserve to be understood, celebrated, and supported by people who genuinely see the magic in who they are.
In 2019, that belief inspired her to open Bright Steps Behavior Innovations, creating a space where clinical excellence and meaningful human connection could exist side by side.
But Lindsay's vision has never stopped at the therapy room door.
A natural dreamer and determined doer, she's passionate about creating experiences that bring children, families, and communities together. From everyday moments of play and discovery to opportunities for connection beyond traditional therapy, she believes that some of the most meaningful growth happens when people feel safe enough to simply belong.
Becoming a mother of four, and later navigating her own son's autism diagnosis, brought an entirely new dimension to the work she'd spent her career doing. Suddenly, the challenges families described weren't just things she understood professionally. They were experiences she was living, too. That perspective has only deepened her commitment to building something more connected, compassionate, and responsive to real family life.
Today, as Founder, Owner, and CEO of Guiding Tides, Lindsay focuses on nurturing the bigger picture: empowering a team of dedicated professionals, strengthening family partnerships, and creating a community where children are celebrated for exactly who they are.
Taylor Flaherty
Executive Director & BCBA
If sunshine could take human form, it might just look a little like Taylor.
With a smile that lights up both her face and the room around her, Taylor has an extraordinary gift for making every person she encounters feel like they are the most important person in the world. Whether she's connecting with a child, reassuring a parent, or encouraging a teammate, she has a way of making people feel genuinely seen, celebrated, and capable of incredible things.
But behind that infectious smile is a thoughtful, dedicated clinician who cares deeply about getting it right.
As Executive Director and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Taylor brings together clinical knowledge, creativity, and an unwavering belief in the potential of every child. She understands that meaningful progress doesn't come from a one-size-fits-all approach. It grows from trust, curiosity, collaboration, and taking the time to truly understand the person in front of you.
Taylor leads with that same philosophy. She creates space for her team to ask questions, grow in confidence, celebrate successes, and navigate challenges together, because she knows that supporting the people providing care is just as important as supporting the children receiving it.
Taylor doesn't just help people find their strengths. She has a remarkable way of helping them see the magic in themselves.
Janelle Hopkins
Daily Operations Coordinator
If there's one thing you should know about Janelle, it's that she's got your back. And chances are, she's got the paperwork, the documentation, the labeled file folder, and a perfectly color-coded Post-it note to prove it.
As Daily Operations Coordinator, Janelle is the organizational heartbeat of Guiding Tides. She keeps schedules moving, details accounted for, and the many moving pieces of daily operations working together.
But what makes Janelle truly special is her ability to balance the systems that keep everything running with the people those systems are meant to support. She understands that behind every schedule change, form, and carefully organized folder is a child, a family, or a team member whose experience matters.
With equal parts practicality, dedication, and heart, Janelle helps make Guiding Tides a place where the details are handled and the people are never forgotten.
The Heart Behind Every Little Moment
Meet the people who make Guiding Tides feel like home.
Different personalities. Different strengths. One pretty incredible team.
Behind every new skill, brave first attempt, belly laugh, and moment of connection is a team of people who genuinely care.
Our behavior technicians and clinical professionals bring so much more than their training and experience into each session. They bring creativity, patience, curiosity, humor, and their own wonderfully unique ways of connecting with the children and families they support.
Some are master builders of elaborate play adventures. Some have an uncanny ability to turn the simplest activity into something magical. Some are the calm in the middle of a difficult moment. And all bring something special to the spaces where children learn and grow.
I believe the people doing this work deserve to be celebrated just as much as the progress they help make possible.
These are the people who bring Guiding Tides to life, one meaningful moment at a time.
